Some AI tools can also create visual renderings of possible changes. These can be useful for comparing ideas before spending money, but they should be treated as inspiration rather than a final landscape plan. A realistic-looking image does not necessarily account for mature plant size, drainage, soil conditions, sunlight or the true cost of labor and materials.

Choose the Right Plants for the Right Place
Choosing plants can be one of the more expensive parts of landscaping, especially when something that looks good at the nursery turns out to be wrong for the space. AI can help narrow your choices before you buy by considering your yard conditions and the amount of maintenance you are willing to take on.
Start by telling AI where you live, how much sun the area receives, whether the soil tends to stay wet or dry, and what you want the planting to accomplish. Here's a list of things AI can help you determine for your garden:

AI is especially useful when you have several priorities at once. For a closer look, upload several photos to an AI tool—one of the entire plant and a few close-ups of damaged leaves, stems, bark or insects. Add helpful details, such as how long the problem has been occurring, whether the plant was recently moved or pruned, and if there have been changes in watering, weather or nearby construction.
Rather than asking AI for a definitive diagnosis, ask it to identify the most likely causes and explain what signs could help narrow them down. You can also ask it to use Cooperative Extension resources as a primary source. Extension programs across the country publish research-based information on plant diseases, pests and other common landscape problems. For treatment or location-specific recommendations, your own state or local Extension service may be the best source.

AI can be very helpful for narrowing the possibilities, but photographs cannot always reveal the full cause of a plant problem. Root damage, soil conditions, pests, disease and environmental stress can produce similar symptoms, so persistent or serious problems may still require help from an Extension office, nursery or landscape professional.
Create a Seasonal Yard-Care Plan
Landscaping is easier to manage when you know what needs attention—and when. AI can help turn a long list of chores into a simple seasonal plan for your lawn, shrubs, perennials and trees.
Start by giving AI a list of the plants and features in your yard, along with your general location.
